Hi there:
I am writing on behalf of myself and several teachers. We have a question that no one at our school has been able to help us with. We do not expect a published answer, but if you could email to point us in the correct direction for a solution, we would be so grateful...........as the topic is very embarrassing to us.
If the question is inappropriate, please forgive. We hoped that since you deal with teachers, parents, and students, you might know the answer and help us out. Surely, others have had this problem.
Several of us left AOL and purchased internet service from out local cable company. (I kept my AOL and got the cable service, too.) As a result, we use Internet Explorer version 6 to surf the net.
We are having terrible, terrible problems with porno pictures/sites popping up on our computers at home. The pictures are awful. You get a box that wants you to download software and the box won't close. Underneath the box are the pictures. When you click on the x to close one, another one pops up. I myself have closed 12 in a row so far. To get rid of the box, you have to control alt delete after all the pictures are done, and that totally closes IE6. Then you have to start over.
We delete the cookies, prior to restarting, but the pictures keep coming back. Is there anything we can do? (This did not happen on AOL, and our cable company says they have no jurisdiction over this.)
Thank you so much for your time.

We are so glad you wrote to us. We can absolutely help you. Here is a link to an article from TechTV. They have a show called Screensavers that is great! Twisted List: Five Ways to Kill Pop-Up Windows Dead lists five of the top Pop-up blasters. They have programs for both PC and Macintosh.
We have also included an article we did on filters. These can help, but they can also be annoying. You will have to choose.
