Topic: Slander

I have been assigned to ask an expert for information to use as a source in my research project. I would like to discuss one or two recent famous cases where the press were found to slander a private citizen. Do you know of some recent cases?

Zachary-
This is an interesting question. Because of the way our laws are structured, it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to charge a newspaper or magazine with slander and win. Thousands of cases are filed each year, but most of them are not successful or they are settled out, so there is little or no record of the result.
Here is a great piece by the U.S. Department of State on this issue. Be sure to read a few of the adjacent articles as well, such as Editing the Washington Post.
