Rounds For Singers Just Starting Out
August 1st was designated Rounds Resounding Day to encourage people to join with others in song. We learn to sing rounds when were little kids with such tunes as "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," "Frere Jacques," and "Hey Ho Nobodys Home." To help you sing rounds with your favorite friends, weve put the words to some of our favorite rounds below. Have fun!
Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream
Make New Friends
Make new friends but keep the old
One is silver and the other gold
Frere Jacques
French
Frere Jacques, Frere Jacques
Dormez vous? Dormez vous?
Sonnes les matines, sonnez les matines,
Din, din, don. Din, din, don.
Frere Jacques- Are You Sleeping Brother John?
English
Are you sleeping, are you sleeping?
Brother John, Brother John,
Morning bells are ringing, morning bells are ringing
Ding Ding Dong, Ding Ding Dong.
Hey Ho Nobodys Home
Hey ho nobody's home
Meat nor drink nor money have I none
Yet I will be merry
End: Hey, nobodys home
Heres a midi version of this tune, in case youre unfamiliar with it.
