As you may know, the last Thursday in April is Take Your Daughter to Work Day, a yearly event that gives parents the opportunity to introduce their child to the life they live outside of their home.
As a father of three beautiful daughters, I write today to urge you to participate in this meaningful and educational event. At the very least, it will give you an opportunity to spend quality time with your child. At best, it may even inspire them to choose a career path of their own or to begin thinking about what the future holds in store and how they themselves can achieve success. Take Your Daughter to Work Day is a wonderful way to educate your child about the responsibilities that adults face and to get them excited about their own future.
Moreover, many parents find that by introducing their children to their co-workers, they help to create a more pleasant, supportive atmosphere at the office. By demonstrating to colleagues your role as a mother or father, you help to foster understanding about the multiple responsibilities you must fulfill as an employee and as a parent.
I urge you to take your daughter-or son-to work with you on Thursday, April 24. The experience may only last a day, but the benefits could last a lifetime.
