October 1st
Shore on the Score: The Music of the Lord of the Rings
A free panel discussion moderated by Kurt Loder (MTV) with panelists Howard Shore (composer/conduster, The Lord of the Rings films), Doug Adams (author, The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films) and Billy Boyd (actor/musician who attained worldwide fame and acclaim with his portrayal of Peregrin “Pippin” Took in The Lord of the Rings films).

J.R.R. Tolkien Manuscript Exhibit at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center Campus
Literary manuscripts from Marquette University’s renowned J.R.R. Tolkien Collection will be exhibited this fall at Fordham’s Gerald M. Quinn Library at Lincoln Center for the public free of charge. The exhibit marks the first time that the literary manuscripts have been exhibited in New York City. Forty select items will be on display, including drawings and sketches, calendars of Middle-earth, linguistic notes about the author’s invented languages, Hobbit family genealogies, detailed time schemes and other plot notes and examples of Tolkien’s finest calligraphy.

Bill Boyd with BEECAKE at Joe’s Pub, 10:30PM
Actor and musician, Billy Boyd, who starred in The Lord of the Rings trilogy as Peregrin “Pippin” Took and contributed to the soundtrack with his original song “Steward of Gondor,” embarks on a tour of the U.S. East Coast with his band Beecake October 6th-11th in support of their new album “Soul Swimming.” Hear them in their New York debut!
