Each year there is a major lobster festival featuring fresh Maine lobster in Redondo Beach, California. The lobsters are flown in nightly from Maine, and cooked in front of hungry Southern California crowds in the world's largest lobster steamer. You read that correctly for three days in September, large delicious lobsters are taken from their cozy lobster pots in the chilly Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Maine by Bristol Farms, and quickly flown to the opposite coast to appease the hungry crowds in Redondo Beach.
For three days there is music, family fun, rides and games galore at this fall festival in California. In 2007 the talents of James Intveld, and Big Sandy & his Fly-Rite Boys will be showcased as well as Heart Brigade, The Chris Andersen Group, Hush, Surf City Allstars, Orquesta Charangoa, LA Hip Kids, and Kate Russell.
The revelry takes place this September (2007) from the 21st– 23rd at the Seaside Lagoon at 200 Portofino Way,
Redondo Beach, California during the following hours:
- Friday, September 21: 5pm - 11pm
- Saturday, September 22: 12 noon - 11pm
- Sunday, September 23: 12 noon - 9pm
General Admission costs $10
