The San Luis Obispo MOZaic festival, formerly known as the Mozart Festival, has been held for the last 40 years during the month of July, and it has attracted music lovers from around the world. Although Mozart was the original inspiration for the event, the event now features a variety of classical music spanning five centuries, as well as jazz, bluegrass, Latin and even Rock and Roll artists who have been inspired by the classics to create unique ‘cross over’ musical experiences.

The Fringe Festival is a series that reflects this evolving direction of classical music. This event runs concurrent to the San Luis Obispo MOZaic Festival, and presents musicians and ensembles that have crossed over the traditional boundaries of classical music into jazz, bluegrass, rock and roll and world music.

Tickets go on sale in April, and may be ordered online at www.festivalmozaic.com or by calling (805) 781-3009 / (877) 881-8899. A complete list of this year’s artists and the pieces that will be performed can be found on the website, www.festivalmozaic.com.

San Luis Obispo at a Glance

Simply called "SLO" or "San Luis" by locals, the city is the cultural and commercial hub of California’s scenic Central Coast. It is anchored by one of California's historic missions, Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, one of the best-preserved examples of 18th century Spanish architecture. SLO has long been recognized as one of the best stops of the “one-tank trips” between Los Angeles (200 miles south) and San Francisco (230 miles north).
