Wayside Waifs is an animal shelter for homeless cats and dogs. Every year they hold Strutt With Your Mutt. Strutt With Your Mutt is where people and their dogs go on a two mile walk to raise money for Wayside Waifs so that cats and dogs can be happy at Wayside Waifs until they get a home.

I saw many dogs: corgis, spaniels, terriers, and many more. I even saw a dog in a wheelchair, and some with backpacks on their backs. There were contests there: best costume, best kisser, and best trick. The winner of the costume contest was a dog in a tuxedo.

There was a pet truck where there were all sorts of cats and a couple dogs for adoption. There was a litter of dachshund puppies. Sometimes people call them wiener dogs, so the people at Wayside Waifs gave them hot dog names like Frankfurter.

It was my first year at Strutt with your Mutt. I will definitely go back next year. It was a lot of fun. I hope the dogs and kittens get good homes.

They have been holding Strutt With Your Mutt for 18 years. Over 1,000 owners and their dogs participated in Strutt With Your Mutt this year. I was happy because a lot of dogs and cats got homes.

Afterwards, there were tents set up for owners and their dogs. Some had cookies and water. All of the dogs were barking happily. Almost all of the dogs were on leashes. They sniffed the other dogs to say hello. I want to be a dog walker when I grow up.

Special Information: My friend Grace’s dog Polly was the grand marshal because Grace’s family raised the most money. Polly got to be first in line at Strutt With Your Mutt.
