The teacher's notes for The Unknown Turner are actually excellent activity pages to be used when teaching about the artwork of JMW Turner. They were designed to be used in conjunction with the exhibition at the Tate Britain, but there is an online exhibition that you can use for your class.
The online version has a brief biography of the artist, a timeline of his life, Turner's Gallery, which is a virtual reconstruction of the room in which he showed his paintings. A section called Turner's Travels is designed to help students imagine themselves on the type of trip that Turner took early in his career. Our favorite section is Talking Turner, which gives an idea of how his fellow artists, past and present, view his work.
This link will take you directly to the Teacher Focus Sheets.
