Building With K'NEX Could Mean A $15,000 Savings Bond For College

In celebration of its 15th anniversary, K’NEX, the construction toy company, is offering a $15,000 savings bond – its largest award ever -- to the Grand Prize Winner of the 2007 K’NEXpert Search. Open to kids ages 6-12, the Search invites all of you young builders across the country to put on your thinking caps and get to work constructing ultra-creative, original models made entirely from K’NEX parts.

Ten additional winners will each receive $1,500 savings bonds, and all of these winners will also receive building sets, K’NEX gear, and an invitation to visit the K’NEX headquarters and discover, through company designers, how K’NEX is made.

In addition, K’NEX will partner with elementary schools across the country, inviting students grades one through six to participate in the K’NEXpert Classroom Challenge. Teachers and their classes will compete against classrooms at the same grade level, building a model based on a specific building challenge. One winner will be chosen for each grade level, with winning classrooms receiving several prizes including a $300 K’NEX Education gift certificate and a free K’NEX building set for every child in the class.

If you have younger brothers and sisters in the 1st to 6th grade, make sure they know about the competition. You never know, one of them could end up being the master N'NEX builder that takes home the $15,000 savings bond!

The 2007 K’NEXpert Search will run from September 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006 with winners announced in February 2007. Children enter by printing out the entry form from the K’NEX web site and mailing it in to K’NEX with a photo of their creation. Entries must fit into one of four building categories:
  • models that move;
  • architecture;
  • vehicles;
  • and amusement park thrill rides.

Kids are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild – models are judged on creativity, uniqueness and detail.
